About Long Beach, Pacific Rim National Park Reserve
Long Beach is the largest beach on Vancouver Island’s west coast, about 16 km of sand between rocky headlands, in the Long Beach sector of Pacific Rim National Park. Behind the sand lies the temperate rainforest, with red cedars and firs that are hundreds of years old.
The beach is one of Canada’s top surf spots, with waves coming from the open Pacific year-round. It’s also good for long walks, birdwatching and tide pools among the rocks. Short park trails, like the Rainforest Trail and Schooner Cove, run on boardwalks through the forest.
The park charges an entry fee; check the current rates. Follow warnings about rip currents and loose logs in the surf, which can be moved by waves.
