About Thousand Islands Parkway
The Thousand Islands Parkway is a scenic road of about 37 km that follows the St. Lawrence shoreline between Gananoque and the vicinity of Brockville. It was opened as the region’s main road and, after Highway 401 was built, became a leisure route with little traffic.
A paved bike path runs alongside the road, separated from cars, and is heavily used in summer. The route passes inlets, viewpoints over the islands, small beaches, picnic areas and the bridge to the United States at Hill Island. Thousand Islands National Park has its visitor centre on the final stretch, at Mallorytown Landing.
In autumn, the shoreline forests change color and the road becomes one of the region’s most sought-after drives for fall foliage.
