About Thousand Islands National Park
Thousand Islands National Park was established in 1904 and was the first national park east of the Rocky Mountains. It is one of the country’s smallest parks and protects more than 20 islands and stretches of the Saint Lawrence shoreline, in a transition zone between northern and southern forests, with species that are rare in Canada.
The visitor centre is at Mallorytown Landing on the shoreline, with exhibits, a beach, short trails and kayak rentals in season. The park’s islands are only reachable by boat or kayak and have docks, camping areas and trails. The channels between the islands are calm and good for paddling, with attention to ship traffic in the main channel.
The park is administered by Parks Canada and charges for activities and use of docks. Check the season and the current fee schedule.
