The city

What to expect from Indio.

Indio sits at the eastern tip of the Coachella Valley, a little below sea level, about 37 km from Palm Springs. It began as a railroad stop and became the valley’s date-growing center, a history told at the Coachella Valley History Museum and celebrated every winter at the Riverside County fair, which includes the national date festival. It’s the home of the date shake, the date milkshake, and hosts major music festivals at the Empire Polo Club.
