About Bowman's Beach
Bowman's Beach is on the west side of Sanibel, away from the island’s more built-up areas. From the parking lot, a short trail and a wooden bridge over a channel lead to the sand, which keeps this beach quieter than others on the island.
It is one of the preferred beaches for shelling. At low tide and after storms, the waterline accumulates shells of many species, and it’s common to see people bent over collecting them, a pastime so common it even has a local name.
The beach has restrooms, outdoor showers and picnic areas by the parking lot, and the sunset is over the gulf. From May to October, sea turtles nest in the sand and nesting areas are marked.
