About Coopers Beach

Coopers Beach is Southampton’s main public beach on Long Island’s south shore, facing the Atlantic Ocean. It often appears on lists of the best beaches in the United States for its wide, clean sand and preserved dunes.

The beach is at the end of Coopers Neck Lane, and large summer homes sit on the dunes along Meadow Lane to either side. The sea is open with waves, and the water is cold in early summer and warmer in August and September.

In season there are lifeguards, restrooms, showers, a snack bar and chair and umbrella rentals. Parking in summer is charged per day for nonresidents and tends to fill up on weekends.
