The city
Village founded in 1640 by English settlers, one of the oldest in the state of New York, on the south shore of Long Island. It has wooden houses from the 17th to the 19th centuries, a main street with shops and restaurants, and large summer homes near the sea. Coopers Beach faces the Atlantic, and the Parrish Art Museum is in neighboring Water Mill.
