About Pensacola Beach

Pensacola Beach is on Santa Rosa Island, a long narrow barrier island between the gulf and Pensacola Bay. The beach has the Panhandle’s typical quartz sand, white and fine, and on calm days the sea appears green and transparent.

The beach center is the Casino Beach area, with parking, restrooms, restaurants and the Pensacola Beach Gulf Pier, a roughly 450‑meter fishing pier that extends over the gulf. From there, the island continues east and west with undeveloped stretches that are part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore, with dunes and quieter beaches.

The island has been hit by several hurricanes and has sections of road and dunes that were rebuilt. The Blue Angels perform over the beach in July, one of the area’s most popular events.
