About National Naval Aviation Museum
The National Naval Aviation Museum is inside Naval Air Station Pensacola, where the United States Navy has trained its pilots since 1914, earning the city the nickname “Cradle of Naval Aviation.” It is one of the world’s largest aviation museums.
The collection includes more than 150 aircraft, displayed in large hangars and an outdoor area: seaplanes and biplanes from the early 20th century, fighters from World War II, Cold War jets and helicopters. Four Blue Angels jets hang suspended in the main atrium in formation. There are flight simulators and exhibits on aircraft carriers and the space program.
Because it is located on a military base, civilian visitor access follows base rules, which have changed several times: at some periods entry was limited to certain days. A photo ID accepted by the base is required.
