About Henderson Beach State Park
Henderson Beach State Park occupies a stretch of shoreline on the east side of Destin, between condominium complexes and hotels. It is one of the few sections of the city where the coast remains undeveloped, with high dunes covered in sea oats and shrubs, and about 2 km of quartz sand.
Wood boardwalks cross the dunes down to the beach, and a short trail runs through the coastal woods, with pines and low oaks shaped by the wind. It’s common to see blue herons, pelicans and, offshore, dolphins.
The park has parking, outdoor showers, restrooms, covered picnic areas and a campground with sites near the dunes. The beach does not have lifeguards at all times, and warning flags indicate sea conditions.
