Approximate distances. Check flights and bus, train or boat schedules before you travel.
By train on the Bratislava–Košice main line, stopping at Spišská Nová Ves station: about 4½ hours from Bratislava and one hour from Košice. By car, about 25 km from Poprad. Čingov is roughly 6 km away, reachable by bus and road.
How many days
Half a day for the square and the church tower climb. As a base for the park, one or two days, including a trip to Čingov and Tomášovský výhľad.
When to go
June to September for the park trails, when days are long. The church tower is open year-round. In winter the town is quiet and the gorge trails are not recommended because of ice.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
Not for the town: the station is close to the center and the square is walkable. For Čingov and Podlesok there are buses, but a car gives more freedom of schedule.
