Approximate distances. Check flights and bus, train or boat schedules before you travel.
By car, about 20 km from Poprad and 15 km from Spišská Nová Ves; Podlesok is about 2 km from the village center and has parking. There are buses from Poprad and from Spišská Nová Ves, but with few departures.
How many days
One full day for Suchá Belá and Kláštorisko, in a circuit starting from Podlesok. With two days you can do another gorge or descend to the Hornád canyon.
When to go
From June to September, when the gorges are dry and the days are long. After heavy rain some gorges may be closed. In winter, ice on the ladders makes the gorges inadvisable.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
Tip. Buses to Hrabušice and Podlesok have few departures, and the trail ends where it begins, which makes leaving the car in Podlesok’s parking lot convenient.

Morning
Suchá Belá Gorge
Leave Podlesok early and enter the Suchá Belá gorge, climbing up the streambed using ladders, chains and walkways. Stop at the waterfalls along the way and continue to the end of the gorge, on the high plateau.

Afternoon
Kláštorisko and descent to the Hornád
Continue through the forest to the Kláštorisko clearing, with the ruins of the Carthusian monastery and a mountain refuge. Descend the marked trail to the Hornád river and return to Podlesok along the riverbank, passing the canyon entrance.

What to do in Hrabušice?
Hike the Suchá Belá gorge from Podlesok and reach the ruins of the Kláštorisko monastery. The village also gives access to other gorges and to the Hornád canyon.
Where is Podlesok?
About 2 km from the center of Hrabušice, on the park’s edge. It is the tourist settlement with parking, guesthouses and a campground from which the Suchá Belá trails depart.
How to get from Poprad to Hrabušice?
By car, about 20 km, roughly 25 minutes. There are buses but not many; note the return schedule before starting the trail.
How long is the Suchá Belá circuit?
About four hours and fifteen minutes, leaving from Podlesok, ascending the gorge, passing Kláštorisko and returning via the Hornád.
