About Roháče Lakes (Roháčske plesá)
The Roháčske plesá are four glacial lakes arranged in steps in the Roháče valley in the Western Tatras, inside the Tatra National Park (TANAP). The largest, Veľké Roháčske pleso, is about 7 meters deep. Near the Ťatliakova chata, at roughly 1,400 meters, lies the small Ťatliak lake.
The most popular circuit starts at the valley parking near Zverovka, follows an asphalt road to the Ťatliakova chata and climbs the slope to the lakes, with the cliffs of the Roháče summits surrounding them. The descent goes by the Roháče waterfall (Roháčsky vodopád). The full route is about 10 km and takes four to five hours, with a moderate ascent.
The area is a nature reserve, and trails above the hut close each year at the end of autumn and reopen in late spring or early summer according to TANAP rules. The asphalt road up to the Ťatliakova chata is accessible year‑round.
