Namur – Namur Destination Meuse Valley Capital
How to get there
-
Namur 1 km
Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.
By train: Namur is about an hour from Bruxelas on the line towards Luxemburgo, with several departures each hour. From Liège the journey also takes about an hour. From Bruxelas airport you usually change trains in Bruxelas. Check before you book.
How many days
A full day covers the Citadelle with the underground galleries, the cable car and the old town. With two days you'll have time for the museums, the churches, a boat trip and a train day trip to Dinant, about half an hour away.
When to go
From April to September, when the Citadelle is open daily and boats operate. The Fêtes de Wallonie usually take over the center on the third weekend of September. In winter it gets dark in the mid-afternoon and rain is common, but the museums and churches make up for it.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
You don't need one. The center is walkable, the cable car goes up to the Citadelle and trains link Namur with Bruxelas, Liège and Dinant. A car is only useful if you want to include the Jardins d'Annevoie or Meuse valley castles on the same day.
