Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.
Confirm before buying. By car, take the N96, which leaves Dinant and follows the river — about a 15-minute drive. The Mosa cycle path goes through the villages. The nearest passenger train stops in Dinant; check regional buses and the rail connection to Hastière in advance.
How many days
One day is enough for the abbey church, the Freÿr gardens and the caves. With an additional day you’ll have time to walk the cliffs, cycle along the Mosa or go down the river by boat or kayak, depending on the season.
When to go
From May to September, when days are long and the riverbank is livelier. Château de Freÿr and the caves typically open in the spring and summer season; check the dates. From November to February many services operate fewer days.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
Help. Attractions are spread across the villages and along the riverbank, and public transport is limited. Without a car, you can use the Mosa cycle path from Dinant.
