About Lake Warfaaz
The Lac de Warfaaz lies northeast of Spa's center, in a valley surrounded by forest. It was created by a dam built in 1892 on the Wayai stream and is about 600 meters long by 200 meters wide.
A path circles the lake, flat and easy, with benches and viewpoints. In the summer season there is pedal boat rental, and anglers appear on the banks. Restaurants with waterside terraces make for a pleasant stop.
The lake is also a hiking destination: a trail of about 4 kilometers starts at the thermes, at the top of the hill Annette et Lubin, and descends through the woods to the dam. Other waymarked trails link the area to Spa's springs in the forest.
Before you go
Practical information
Cidade Turismo reviews its information regularly, but something may have changed. Check with the place before planning your trip.
How much time to set aside
One hour to walk around the lake. If walking from the thermes, allow half a day.
Best time
From May to September, when pedal boats are usually available and the terraces are open. In autumn, October to November, the surrounding woods change color.
How to get there
On foot via the roughly 4-kilometer trail from the thermes, or along the avenue that follows the Wayai from the town center. By car or taxi the trip takes only a few minutes.
Tip
Wear hiking shoes: the trail from the thermal baths has dirt sections that get muddy after rain. Bring a jacket even in summer, because the valley is cooler than the town center.
