About Passage Peak
Passage Peak is the highest point on Hamilton Island. The recommended trail starts at the Scenic Trail entrance at the far east of Catseye Beach and is about 2.7 km each way, with a steep climb and many steps; the ascent takes about 1 hour 15 minutes.
From the top you can see the archipelago in all directions: the Whitsunday islands, Dent and Lindeman, the passage where boats enter and, in the distance, the open sea toward the reefs. Signs indicate the visible islands.
The trail is part of a network of paths that cross the island’s undeveloped, bush-covered area, and passes the Saddle Junction intersection, from which trails lead to beaches and other lookouts, such as Resort Lookout, the island’s second-highest point.
There are no toilets or water on the trails, and the summit has no shade.
