About Catseye Beach
Catseye Beach is Hamilton Island’s main beach. It is on the north side of the island, facing the passage between Hamilton and the neighboring islands, and was formed with reclamation works and added sand. It is open to the public, including people who visit the island just for the day.
The water is shallow and usually calm, good for swimming and for first steps in sailing, kayaking and stand-up paddle, all rented on the beach. At low tide sandbanks and shallow pools appear.
Behind the sand strip are pools, cafés and island accommodations. Along the beach there are sunbeds and shaded areas.
From November to May, during the tropical jellyfish season, it is recommended to enter the sea wearing lycra swimwear, which is sold or rented on the island.
