About Airlie Beach Lagoon

The Airlie Beach lagoon is in the village center on the seafront and is where locals and travelers swim without worrying about tropical jellyfish. It was built over an elevated breakwater, which gives views of the Coral Sea and the islands of the archipelago.

The swimming area covers 4,300 m² and holds 4.5 million liters of treated water. There are shallow sections for children, lanes for those who want to swim, lawns, trees, public barbecues, restrooms, and showers. Lifeguards watch the lagoon during all opening hours, which vary by season.

There is no entrance fee. The village’s main street, with cafés and restaurants, starts right behind it, and the marinas are a few minutes’ walk away.

It’s the most convenient place to swim before or after boat trips.
