The city

What to expect from Airlie Beach.

Coastal village on the mainland opposite the Whitsunday islands, Airlie Beach is the main departure point for the archipelago. On the waterfront there is a public lagoon for swimming, with views of the Coral Sea; from the marinas boats depart for Whitehaven and Hill Inlet, overnight sailing trips and ferries to Hamilton Island. Scenic flights over Heart Reef also leave from the region's airport.
