About Francois Peron National Park
Francois Peron National Park occupies the northern tip of the Peron Peninsula, a few kilometers from Denham. The landscape is red sand dunes and cliffs meeting the turquoise-blue sea and white sand beaches.
Near the entrance is the former Peron sheep station headquarters, with a geothermal hot pool and exhibits about the area’s history. From there northwards, the roads are soft sand and only allow 4x4 vehicles.
At Cape Peron, at the peninsula’s tip, a short trail links lookouts over the bay where you can see sharks, rays, dolphins and dugongs in the water. Shallow lagoons, called birridas, spread across the interior.
The park charges an entry fee; check the current schedule. There are organized 4x4 tours from Denham and from Monkey Mia.
