How to get there
-
Hobart Airport (HBA) Cambridge · 17 km
Approximate distances. Check flights and bus, train or boat schedules before you travel.
Hobart Airport is about 17 km from the center, with shuttle buses and taxis. From the northern coast, where the Spirit of Tasmania ferry arrives, it is about 280 km by car from Devonport.
How many days
Two days for the city: one for Salamanca Place, Battery Point and kunanyi, another for MONA. Add one or two more for Port Arthur and Richmond.
When to go
Summer and autumn have mild days. Salamanca market takes place on Saturdays year-round. In winter it is cold and kunanyi can have snow.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
Not for the center, which is walkable, nor for MONA, which has a boat. A car helps to climb kunanyi and for trips outside the city. In Australia you drive on the left.
