The city

What to expect from Ballina.

Town at the mouth of the Richmond River, about 34 km south of Byron Bay, land of the Bundjalung. It has the regional airport, calm beaches like Lighthouse Beach and Shelly Beach, and the Richmond River lighthouse, from 1880. At the town entrance stands the Big Prawn, the giant prawn that is one of the landmarks of the coastal highway.
