About Mirima National Park
Mirima National Park lies beside Kununurra, about 2 km from town. It protects striped orange-and-grey sandstone formations, carved by erosion into domes, towers and narrow gorges, reminiscent on a smaller scale of the Bungle Bungles in Purnululu National Park.
Short trails lead to lookouts over the valley and town and to shaded gorges. The Didbagirring walk, steeper, climbs to a high point with wide views of the region.
The park preserves rock art and sites important to the Miriuwung-Gajerrong people, traditional owners of the area. Rock wallabies and birds appear among the rocks, especially early morning and late afternoon.
Mirima charges an entry fee per vehicle, with a pass valid in other state parks; check the current rates.
