Bergama – Esmirna Destination Esmirna and Çeşme about 113 km from Esmirna

How to get there

Regional buses link the Izmir area to Bergama; check the arrival point and onward connections to the sites. By car, the town can be included in a trip along the Aegean coast.

How many days

A full day for the three complexes; an overnight stay allows you to spread visits into cooler parts of the day.

When to go

April to June and September to October are usually better for archaeology. July and August are very hot in the open sites, and winter can bring rain.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

Car or taxi helps link the acropolis, the Asclepion and the town center. The archaeological areas are explored on foot, and the ascent may be serviced by a cable car depending on operation.
