About Museum Burg Zug
The Burg Zug is the town’s castle, surrounded by a ring of medieval wall at the edge of the old town. The stone residential tower and the timber-framed wings, added over the centuries, form an irregular ensemble that stands out among the surrounding houses.
The castle passed through several families until it came into municipal hands in the 20th century. After restoration, it received the cultural history museum of Zug, with each room dedicated to a theme.
The route deals with life in the town and the canton: trade, crafts, religion, festivals, the arts and the relationship with the lake and cherry cultivation. Temporary exhibitions complement the permanent collection, and there are activities designed for children.
From the courtyard and the upper windows you can see the roofs of the old town and the Zytturm tower.
