The city
Municipality of the same-name valley in the Jura mountains, in the canton of Neuchâtel, which includes villages such as Môtiers, Fleurier, Couvet and Travers. The valley is regarded as the birthplace of absinthe and preserves the memory of distillers who worked clandestinely for almost a century. In Môtiers is the Maison de l'Absinthe; near Travers, the Presta natural asphalt mines offer guided visits, and the rocky cirque of the Creux du Van sits above Noiraigue.
