About Moléson
The Moléson is the best-known mountain of the Gruyère. At 2002 m, it rises above the village of Moléson-sur-Gruyères, a few kilometers from the town of Gruyères.
The ascent is done in two stages: a funicular takes you from Moléson-sur-Gruyères to Plan-Francey, and a cable car continues to near the summit. From the top, the panorama includes the Gruyère, Lake de la Gruyère, Lake Léman and, on clear days, the Alps.
In summer, trails link the summit to pastures and mountain huts, where cheese is still made in the traditional way at certain times. In winter, the slope has ski runs when there is snow.
For visitors staying in Gruyères, the Moléson rounds out the visit with a day in the mountains.
