About Štramberk Tower (Štramberská Trúba)
Štramberk castle, also called Strallenberg, was erected in the 13th century on the hill above the town as the center of a crown domain. The wall that descends from the hill still marks the outline of the town’s old core.
By the 18th century the castle was already in ruins, and in 1783 the front part collapsed. The main tower, the Trúba, was rebuilt in 1903 and 1904 and turned into a lookout.
An internal stairway rises to the gallery, with panels identifying what can be seen from each window: the square and the wooden houses, the Kotouč hill cut by the quarry, the town of Kopřivnice and, on clear days, the Beskydy range.
The climb up the hill starts from a stairway at the square. The tower and fortifications are protected as a monument.
