About Tatra Passenger Car Museum
Kopřivnice is the city of Tatra. In 1850 Ignác Šustala began making carriages there; later came railway wagons and, in 1897, the Präsident, one of the first automobiles in Central Europe. In May 1898 the car reached Vienna on a trip of about 330 km.
The Tatra Technical Museum, opened in its current building in 1997, tells that story with vehicles from all eras: carriages, streamlined passenger cars and prototypes. The original Präsident is in the National Technical Museum in Prague; in Kopřivnice there is a replica made by the factory in 1977.
Tatra trucks are displayed in another museum on Husova Street. Check access and tickets separately if you want to visit both collections.
For visitors to Štramberk, it is the natural extension of the outing, just a few minutes by car or train.
