Lamotte-Beuvron – Centre-Val de Loire Destination Loire Valley

How to get there

  • Gare de Lamotte-Beuvron 1 km

Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.

Lamotte-Beuvron station is on the line between Paris-Austerlitz, Orléans and Vierzon, served by regional trains; from Orléans it is about 30 minutes. By car, the town lies beside the former national road 20 and the A71 motorway, about 40 km from Orléans and 170 km from Paris.

How many days

One day is enough for the town and one nearby site, such as the Château de La Ferté-Saint-Aubin or the Ciran estate. With two days you can see both and walk around the ponds and trails of the Sologne. Loire châteaux, like Chambord, are less than an hour by car.

When to go

From April to October, for the trails and ponds. In July the Federal Equestrian Park hosts the major riding championships and the town fills up. Autumn, from September to November, is the season of colours in the forest and of hunting in the Sologne.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

For the town, no: the station is in the centre. For the Château de La Ferté-Saint-Aubin, the Ciran estate and the Sologne ponds, a car makes things easier because public transport is limited. La Ferté-Saint-Aubin also has a station on the same line.
