About Stade Vélodrome

The Stade Vélodrome is in the south of Marselha, in the 8th arrondissement, and has been the home of Olympique de Marseille (OM) since its opening in 1937. The name comes from the cycling track that used to run around the pitch, which was removed during renovations.

After the 2014 renovation it gained the wavy roof and a capacity of about 67,000 people, making it the second largest stadium in France, behind only the Stade de France. It hosted matches of the FIFA World Cups of 1938 and 1998, the European Championships of 1960, 1984 and 2016, the Rugby World Cups of 2007 and 2023, and the football tournament at the 2024 Olympic Games.

OM is the city's most popular club and the only French winner of the UEFA Champions League, in 1993. On match days, the stadium and the metro around it fill with blue-and-white supporters.

Outside match days, the stadium offers guided tours (OM Stadium Tour) that go through the stands, the dressing rooms and the players' tunnel. Reservations are required.
