About Keys View

Keys View sits atop the Little San Bernardino Mountains at the southern edge of Joshua Tree National Park, at about 1,580 meters elevation. A paved road leads close to the lookout, and a short climb reaches the highest point.

From there you can see the entire Coachella Valley, including Palm Springs and the valley cities, the San Jacinto and San Gorgonio peaks—among the highest in Southern California—and, on clear days, the Salton Sea, a large salt lake in the desert floor. Panels indicate the line of the San Andreas Fault running through the valley below.

The lookout is one of the park’s most popular spots to watch the sunset. On days with pollution or dry haze coming from the valley, visibility is reduced.
