About Lion Country Safari
Lion Country Safari opened in 1967 in Loxahatchee, west of West Palm Beach, as the first drive-through safari in the United States. The main route is done in your own car, slowly, along a road of about 6 km that crosses open areas with animals from several continents.
Along the way you’ll see lions, giraffes, rhinoceroses, zebras, antelopes, chimpanzees on an island, bison and many birds. Windows remain closed in the sections with the larger animals, and visitors must follow the distance and speed rules.
After the safari, the walkable area has animals in enclosures, giraffe feedings, rides and water play areas for children. The car safari lasts on average about an hour and a half, and you can repeat the route on the same day.
