About Palisades Tahoe

Palisades Tahoe, known until 2021 as Squaw Valley, sits in Olympic Valley, northwest of Lake Tahoe. It was the host of the 1960 Winter Olympics, the first Games broadcast live on television in the United States, and kept a reputation for challenging terrain, with steep, rocky slopes.

The aerial tram departs from the village at the valley base and rises to High Camp, around 2,500 meters, with views over the valley and, in the distance, the lake. At the top there are restaurants, a small museum about the 1960 Games and, in summer, trails and a swimming pool. A gondola links the area to neighboring Alpine Meadows, part of the same resort.

The ski season typically runs from November or December into spring, depending on snow. At the base, the village has hotels, shops and restaurants.
