About Main Beach
Main Beach is at the end of Ocean Avenue, about 1.5 km from downtown East Hampton. It is the village’s best-known beach and often appears on lists of the country’s top beaches.
The sand is wide and pale, with low dunes and shingled summer houses along the shore. The beach pavilion has restrooms, showers and a snack bar, and there are lifeguards in season. The sea is open and can have strong waves.
In summer, parking is largely reserved for holders of town permits, with limited or paid daily spots for visitors on some days. Off season the beach is good for long walks.
