About Pezinok Castle Park

The Castle Park (Zámocký park) surrounds Pezinok’s castle, built around 1300 as a water castle, protected by moats and walls. From the 18th century the building belonged to the Pálffy family, who transformed it into a residence and, in the 19th century, remodelled it with neo‑Renaissance elements.

The garden around it was converted into an English-style park in 1844. Today it covers about 5 hectares, with an irregular pond at its centre, lawns, groups of old trees and rare species. It is the green space most used by locals and a quiet place for a break between the museum and the cellars.

The restored castle is privately owned and houses a winery and a restaurant, as well as the National Wine Salon exhibition, with wines awarded in the national competition. The park remains open to the public and allows close views of the castle façades.
