About Small Carpathian Museum

The Small Carpathians Museum (Malokarpatské múzeum v Pezinku) occupies a typical wine merchant’s house on M. R. Štefánika Street in central Pezinok. It is a regional museum specialised in vineyards, cellars and the culture of wine drinking at the foot of the range.

The permanent exhibition traces centuries of work in the vineyards and cellars, from tools and barrels to the large wooden presses, which form one of the largest collections of their kind in Europe. A second, interactive exhibition tells the story of the region’s wine in a more visual way.

The museum has its own sommelier and organises themed tastings, including a blindfolded tasting, for groups with reservation. It is also one of the organisers of Pezinok’s open-cellar event, which brings together the town’s producers, and hosts temporary exhibitions about local life.

The visit is a good start to understand the wine route before going on to the villages and cellars in the hills.
