About Skanzen of Bardejovské Kúpele
The folk architecture museum of Bardejovské Kúpele, known as the skanzen, opened to the public in August 1965 and is the oldest open-air museum in Slovakia. It belongs to the Museum of Šariš in Bardejov and sits on the edge of the spa, just behind the colonnade, on a tree-lined slope.
The first six buildings were later joined by another 23, brought from villages in Šariš and northeastern Slovakia, where Slovaks and Rusyns lived. There are log houses with furnished interiors, barns, a forge, a fruit dryer, a well and wooden churches moved from regional villages, complete with their icons.
The museum has undergone restoration work on the buildings and hosts festivals with craftsmen, music and craft demonstrations throughout the year. The visit is short and pairs well with a walk in the spa park.
