About King Tomislav Square
Trg kralja Tomislava is the center of life in Samobor. The square is elongated and lined with low houses with colorful façades, many with cafés and shops on the ground floor. The town’s tourist office is on the square itself, and the parish church of Saint Anastasia is a few steps away.
The Gradna stream runs beside the square, crossed by small bridges. Following it westward begins the climb to Stari grad Samobor, and the side streets lead to the Livadić manor, where the city museum is installed.
It’s in the cafés on the square that you try the samoborska kremšnita, the puff-pastry dessert with cream that Croatia recognized as intangible cultural heritage. On carnival days, the fašnik fills the square with parades and masks.
The square is flat and can be walked across in a few minutes, but it’s worth strolling slowly along the streets that leave it, where old houses and small workshops appear.
