About Grand-Place de Huy and Li Bassinia
The Grand-Place is Huy's central square, a few minutes from the collegiate church and the river. In the middle stands Li Bassinia, a fountain with a copper and bronze basin, from the early 15th century and later restored, one of the city's four wonders. The fountain is decorated with figures of saints and is the meeting point of the center.
On one side of the square is the town hall, an 18th-century building. Around it are old houses, cafés and restaurants with tables on the pavement on sunny days.
From the square branch the narrow streets of the historic center, with stone and brick houses and small squares, and the path to the Mur de Huy, the ramp that climbs to the chapel of Notre-Dame de la Sarte.
The square is the natural starting point for exploring the center on foot.
