About Collégiale Notre-Dame de Huy

The collegiate church of Notre-Dame and Saint-Domitien stands on the banks of the Meuse (Mosa) in the centre of Huy, just below the fort. There have been churches on this site since the 7th century, and the present building was constructed between 1311 and 1536 in the Mosan Gothic style. It is classified as exceptional heritage of Wallonia.

The best-known feature is Li Rondia, the large rose window on the façade, about 9 metres in diameter, one of Huy's four wonders. Inside, the tall nave and the stained glass convey the scale of the work. Under the side nave is an 11th-century Romanesque crypt that remained from the earlier church.

The collegiate church's treasury holds Mosan goldsmithing pieces from the Middle Ages, such as the reliquaries of Saint Domician and Saint Mengold, patrons of the town, and other liturgical objects. Visits to the treasury have separate opening times; check in advance.

Every seven years the town celebrates the Septennales, religious festivities with processions of the relics through the streets.
