About Grottes du Pont d'Arcole
The Pont d'Arcole caves are in Hastière, near the bridge over the Féron stream, a tributary of the Meuse. They were discovered in 1924 and later opened to visitors. They formed over millions of years by water seeping into the limestone.
What stands out most are the fine concretions—lace-like stone formations, delicate stalactites and stalagmites. The galleries have about 858 meters of passage and 41 meters of elevation difference.
The visit is guided and takes about an hour, along walkways and stairs. The temperature inside the grotto is cool year-round, so bring a jacket even in summer.
The caves usually open in season with specific hours; check ahead.
