About Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps
The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps lies beside the village of Francorchamps, in the municipality of Stavelot, just over 10 kilometres south of Spa. Opened in 1921, it is one of the oldest racetracks still in use and hosts the Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix as well as the 24 Hours of Spa.
The current track is just over 7 kilometres long and follows the Ardennes' terrain, with large climbs and descents. The most famous sequence is Eau Rouge and Raidillon: shortly after the La Source turn, cars drop down to the Eau Rouge stream and then climb a ramp with an incline of more than 18%, through linked curves.
Outside race days, the circuit runs behind-the-scenes guided tours from March to November, lasting about an hour and a half. The route goes through the pit lanes, the press room, the commentators’ booths, the podium and the race control, from where track safety is managed.
On event weekends the tour schedule changes and access is restricted to ticket holders for the race.
