About La Boverie

La Boverie is Liège's fine arts museum. It sits in the park of the same name, a green strip between the river Mosa and the diversion canal, and occupies the Palais des Beaux-Arts built for the 1905 Universal Exposition, when the city welcomed visitors from across Europe.

Over the 20th century the building housed various collections, such as prints and drawings, Walloon art and modern art. Those collections were brought together in a single museum, which gained a new glass wing facing the river.

The holdings range from art from the Liège region, featuring Walloon painters, to names from European modern art. Temporary exhibitions take place in the new wing and are often organised in partnership with major foreign museums.

The surrounding park has lawns, ancient trees and waterside paths. A foot-and-cycle bridge crosses the Mosa and links the park to the Gare de Liège-Guillemins neighbourhood.
