About Modemuseum Hasselt
The Modemuseum Hasselt is located on Gasthuisstraat, in a central street, in a 17th-century building known as Oud Gasthuis, which was once the convent of the Grey Sisters. It is one of the city's three museums and the one that has grown the most in visitors in recent years.
The museum does not have a permanent exhibition. Instead, it mounts two major exhibitions a year, which treat fashion from various angles: history of dress, designers, techniques and the relationship between clothing and society. Each exhibition occupies the entire building.
Between exhibitions the museum closes for a few weeks for installation. It is also closed on Mondays and on some year-end holidays.
The visit pairs well with the shopping streets of the centre, a few minutes away, and with the Jenevermuseum, which is nearby.
