About Scenic World

Scenic World sits on the rim of the Jamison Valley, about 2 km from Echo Point. It brings together four ways to view the valley, all included on the same ticket.

The Scenic Railway was built in the 1880s to remove coal and shale from valley mines. After the mine closed in 1945 it began carrying visitors. The steepest section has a 52-degree incline over 310 metres, and the descent through tunnel and slope is the most popular part.

The Scenic Skyway crosses the gorge about 270 metres above the valley floor, over Katoomba Falls, in a cabin with sections of glass floor. The Scenic Cableway, a larger cable car, descends about 200 metres to the valley-floor station. Down there, the Scenic Walkway, a 2.4 km boardwalk, traverses the rainforest and passes remains of the old mine.

The complex includes shops, a café and a restaurant. Admission is charged; check the current price list.
