About Grand Canyon Track

The Grand Canyon track is one of the best‑known walks in the Blue Mountains. It starts at the Grand Canyon car park, east of Blackheath, and descends on stone steps into a narrow canyon carved by Greaves Creek.

On the canyon floor the environment changes: light comes filtered, the air is humid and the canyon walls are covered in moss and ferns. The path follows the creek with several crossings, passes under rock overhangs and beside waterfalls and pools.

The circuit is about 6.3 km and usually takes 3 to 4 hours. The return climbs the slope up to Evans Lookout, with views over the Grose Valley, and continues back to the car park.

The trail is signposted but has many steps and slippery sections. The park closes trails in bad weather or during fire risk; check warnings before you go.
