About Little Sahara
Little Sahara is a field of white sand dunes in the south of Kangaroo Island, near Vivonne Bay, about 50 km from Kingscote. The dunes cover several square kilometers amid native vegetation and reach tens of meters in height.
The most popular activity is sliding down the slopes on sandboards or sled boards, rented at the entrance to the area. From the top of the highest dunes you can see the surrounding vegetation and, in the distance, the sea.
The area is private and charges for board rentals. Nearby are Vivonne Bay, a long beach with clear water, and Seal Bay, a few kilometers away.
The sand gets very hot on sunny days, and the wind is often strong on the dunes.
