About Carlo Sandblow
Carlo Sandblow is a wind-shaped sand dune on the headland above Rainbow Beach, within the Cooloola section of Great Sandy National Park. The sand advances over the vegetation, creating a large clear, undulating area on the top of the slope.
From the top you can see Rainbow Beach bay, the tip of Double Island Point to the south, and the dunes and forest of K’gari to the north across the channel. It’s one of the region’s most popular places to watch the sunset.
A short trail through the vegetation, starting from a street at the top of the village, leads to the dune; there is a viewing platform at the end of the path.
The sand becomes very hot during the strong sun hours in summer.
